[2] The Immediate Response:
II Chronicles 20:3-4
3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
Getting bad news can be shocking as well as overwhelming. It is not unusual, depending on the severity of the situation, to immediately get fearful or anxious. But these initial emotions must not be allowed to cloud your judgment or to get you into a state of panic, which can be destructive in and of itself.
II Timothy 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
After the initial impact of the news, quickly gather around you other believers in Christ that you can trust. Organize yourselves together and set yourselves to seek the LORD. At this point you may want to consider if fasting will be necessary. If fasting is to be involved, the length and the design of it must be agreed upon.
