Judgment

Judgment

Judgment is something that each human being that has ever lived must face one day when we are all given the opportunity to stand before God and have to give an account of the lives that we have lived with the years that were given to us on the earth.

Hebrews 9:27

27 And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Therefore the concept of reincarnation is a very clever deception, that serves to provide a false sense of security, in that it presents an illusion that there are multiple chances at life to get it right.

 Definitions of Judgment:

  1. the ability to make considered decisions or form sensible opinions.
  2. an opinion or conclusion
  3. a decision of a law court or judge

Judgment in the New Testament:

krisis (Greek)

This word implies a decision, either for or against. By extension it refers specifically to divine law. It involves the entire process of accusation, judgment, condemnation and damnation.

Matthew 12:36

36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Judging Versus Warning:

The Lord Jesus Christ also spoke these famous words:

Matthew 7:1-2

Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and  with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

No one has been given the authority to judge another to the point of bringing condemnation and pronouncing damnation unto another person. However, it is important to realize that this verse does not negate our responsibility to warn others about the consequences of their lifestyles or spiritual choices. These warnings must be given in the spirit of meekness and genuine concern for the person’s eternal well-being.

Ezekiel 3:18-21

18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I required at thine hand.
19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

Therefore in our zeal to reach the lost, a clear demarcation must be made between ‘judging’ and ‘warning’. The focus must be on the solution for sin and iniquity rather than the consequences of sin and iniquity.

Hebrews 2:2-4

2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4 God also bearing, them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

To all and sundry, it must be made clear that the appropriation of the salvation work of Jesus Christ must be personally accepted. It must be made abundantly clear that to ignore or to reject the blood sacrifice made by the Son of God result in very serious eternal consequences.

Eternal Judgment:

Eternal judgment is something that the human mind cannot fully comprehend. However, the mere fact that God the Father, would send His Son, to die such a brutal death on the cross should indicate to us the absolute seriousness of this predicament.

Revelation 20:12-15

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according, to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Each person consists of a Body, a Soul and a Spirit. While the physical body only survives for just about 70 years on average, the soul and the spirit portions go on to exist for ever. The problem is that God, who is holy cannot allow sin in His presence, and as a result, the unredeemed soul cannot abide with God forever.

Therefore the other eternal abode, the Lake of Fire is the alternative. We must make every effort to warn people and attempt to remove the blindfolds that the enemy has placed upon their minds.

II Corinthians 4:3-4

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Past Judgments and the Judgment to come on the Earth:

II Peter 2:4-9

4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deed;)
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Noah lands after the Flood

With all the signs around us it would be foolhardy to think that judgment on the earth is not due. There is a lot of violence upon the earth just like in the days of Noah, and there is widespread homosexuality and other perversions just like in the days of Lot.

Judgment is coming. The key is now to live a life that is righteous so that we can be accounted worthy to escape what is coming.
